Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... so far...

So Sunday I woke up with a bagel and some peanut butter. That sated me for a while, got over it eventually and chowed down on a cliff bar.

Worked on my hobby for hours and hours, accomplished nothing in the end. My clip fed barricade STILL won't shoot, it will blast out half a clip then fail, sadface. The other gun is ok so far. I can be happy about that. I need to strip it apart and replace the spring, cushion the plunger, and paint the pieces white.

So, after I failed at that I decided I wanted to try some cheeseless pizza from a local place. I'd have LOVED to get anchovies on it, but this one place doesn't do that. So I settled. I settled on olives, basil, and garlic. Extra sauce. It was pretty good.

Since I started weight training and doing harer cardio stuff, AND went vegan-ish, I decided that I should probably get some supplements. So I headed over to GNC with a friend and told them, that. The guys on the counter suggested some soy protein, some vitamins, and an omega-3 chew. So of course I just bought everything they suggest.

Oh, also, on the same trip I got some cross trainers cause the assholes in the gym won't let me use my combat boots. I guess that's understandable, but hey, it's not like they're covered in snow, I just want to break them and my feet in.

Oh, so the whole point is, I had a soy milk/banana/soy protein shake thing that closed out my Sunday food.

Monday.

I'm not entirely clear on what I ate Monday, this post is getting long and hazy. I think this is what happened....

I met a friend at the gym and did 15 degrees on the treadmill until I felt like I was going to pass out. I got off and did my normal assisted weight routine. I then went and ate a cliff bar and drank some soy protein.

Later on I probably had a salad, and some hummus from the cafeteria, then did something for dinner. Oh yeah, Olive Garden. I remember now, it made me sick as shit later on. (The next day).

Tuesday!

So I started the day feeling like complete crap. The fish I had eaten attacked my digestive system with it's animal protein and just blegh, nausea all day. First thing was a cliff bar (how typical sounding now....). I had a fruit cup, later on some hummus and pita, and then later later on some more hummus and pita. Then later later later on lots of beer and a protein shake. Found out it's much better with honey....

The Present!!

Today, started the day with a cliff bar... Then some hummus and chips. Then some Salad. Salad is now going to mean, "A salad containing dark greens, cucumber, green peppers, onion, olives, mushroom, and shrimp, drizzled with a red wine vinaigrette."

Later, I had some anchovies and a mini-clif bar.

I didn't go to the gym this morning cause I felt like shit and the computer claimed campus was closed until 10. I'm planning on going tonight at 7 to hit up the free weights.

The end, for now.

Saturday

I was so hungover Saturday I didn't even eat until dinner. Which was sushi. 3 rolls. The end.

Friday Food

Made it to my second class, slept through the first. Whelp, sadface, who cares. I went and had some pretzel chips and hummus, it was delicious, humus is always is delicious.

Then, later, dinner-ish was more humus, and a small salad. That was good too.

Fegan so far is pretty straight forward. Fish when I can, veggies most of the rest of the time. Since our cafeteria is running that vegan bar I see hummus becoming a staple of my diet.

What you missed.

I have been slacking. It's sad. I completely forgot I was writing a blog until I sat down in front of my computer and saw it open. Oh well, only a day and a half missed. Lets pick up where I left off. Wednesday I continued my trend of fegan (my indian friend calls it fun-vegan) with some sushi. I had had some mixed veggies before we all left to hit up the armory for some weapons (Toys-R-Us), but hey I was still hungry.

So the five of us got to a local sushi place and order some drinks and a bunch of sushi. I must have eaten 4 or 5 rolls. In addition to the scorpion bowl for two and amaretto sour I polised off solo. Also some tempura fried veggies, but the coating was thin and the veggies weren't oily. This was around 6 or 7ish.

My fellow fun-vegan had ordered a pizza from domino's at some point that was simply a thin crust pizza with tomato sauce, garlic, parsley and hot sauce. So, around 11pm we ordered another and tried that. It was pretty good, but I don't think it's quite worth the price of admission.

Thursday.

I started off Thursday with a Clif Bar Energy Bar and headed over a friends to modify our nerf toys. Spent a few hours doing that and decided we needed more material so we headed to the store. Picked up a Thai Salad from Panera Bread. To make it fegan friendly I had to delete the wontons and the chicken. Apparently wonton strips have egg in them... Go figure.

So some time passes and we're hungry again so we decide to hit up the cafeteria. The vegan bar is still present and accounted for so I load up on bean salad, some pita, and a pile of humus.

Friday!

So, to complete the catch up, I ate a Clif Bar Mini Energy Bar before hitting up the gym this morning for my routine. Got to the gym around 7, just got back.

The end, all caught up!

Tuesday Dinner and Wednesday Morning Stuff

Forgot to post last night. Went to the cafeteria and had a spinach wrap filled with humus, cucumbers, onions, olives and red pepper flakes. Also half a slice of bread with some peanut butter. Went back to the apartment and had a couple beers with a friend and passed out. Real exciting.

Well actually I played Dead Space 2 with my friend for a while. The co-op mode involves using the PlayStation Eye to shoot the necromorphs and perform other puzzle tasks. The psychological stuff in the game is great. Anyways,

This morning I started the day (7am) with half a Clif Bar Energy Bar and a Blueberry Rockstar and headed to the gym. I don't know the names of the machines I used, but went through four assisted weight machines working arms and legs, 3x10 reps each. Next time? Free weights, I hope.

Also, as I'm writing this (10:15 am) I'm chowing down on a cup of mixed fruit and some hatorade, yum.

Midday-ish Meal

So I went and did some work for a while with a professor. Was pretty hungry on the way out of his office so I decided to head down to the cafeteria and grab some lunch.

Our cafeteria is notorious for having terrible entres, terrible specials, and loading up the vegan/vegetarian food with tons of beans and rice. I really enjoy raw vegetables. The snap and consistency is just fantastic. The flavors always pop on my palette. So when everything is some cooked veggie recipe it's not very appetizing.

Fortunately there is a fresh salad bar, and a sandwich station. What I do is throw together a salad, give it some spice, and have the sandwich ladies put it in a tomato wrap for me. It's always ladies. I've seen a couple guys work the station in the three years I've been here, but I never see them twice.

So, today I put some cucumbers, some onions, some carrots, some black olives on a plate with a red wine vinaigrette and a sprinkle of cracked red pepper and have that in a tomato wrap.

The cafeteria had also set a "vegetarian bar" that had pitas, some hummus, and assorted other stuff. I spread some hummus on the pita and put onions and olives in that.

With the wrap and the pita I had a small handful of potato chips and half a slice of bread with maybe half a tablespoon of peanut butter. To drink? Couple ounces of mountain dew mixed with haterade.

Now, time to get ready for a ruck! Gonna try for 5 miles, but the roads and track are covered in shitty ice and snow. Don't need another ankle injury!

Morning!

Well so I woke up late, 9:05 with a class at 9:30. Made it on time but that left me with no breakfast so I munched on a Clif Bar Mini Energy Bar until I had a chance to grab a cup of fruit at the vendor down the hall. I really like how they cube up the fruit but I wish there was more variety in the cup itself. I really like pineapple raw, the tanginess is just something that sets my tastebuds aflame. With all this I'm drinking a haterade, gonna refill it with water through the day to get my hydration up.

Oh, I also pounded a Rockstar Energy Drink. I like the White, Blue, and Yellow ones. They're all calorie free with the same energy mix so no sugar crash...

What to Expect from this Blog

Just a short description of what I want to do. When I eat or ruck I usually do it alone and have a lot of time to think about what's happening. So, I'm going to try as close to eating or exercising as possible, what I did, how I felt, what I thought about, and if someone else was there. That's about it. I don't expect any great insights, I just want to make a visible log of what I'm doing.

Here's a medium term goal. Third week of March is Spring Break, I want to be prepared to go on a 5 day hike and not slow anyone down for the duration. My plan for this includes rucking three times a week and weight training three times a week. The fourth day is probably going to be hill training with no weight.

Last day Vegetarian

Today, not the day it is now, but Monday is the last day I'm doing vegetarian. I'm starting a modified pescetarianism diet that excludes eggs and dairy. So, vegan with fish.

My last meal as a vegetarian was a feta olive pizza, I really wanted to end it with something I enjoy.

Other than that, I started the day with a cup of fruit and a gatorade at 10am. Moved onto a salad, dark greens with onions, mushrooms, green peppers, cucumber and feta with a balsamic vinaigrette, ate half at noon, the other half at 1. Around three had some... thing... that was flat bread with tomato on it, withe greek dressing and ref pepper flakes, also half a cup of mountain dew.

At some point I had a rehydrate energy drink too, and a regular juice rockstar... and a couple spree. My friend let my sample some indian snack foods, which were pretty good... Otherwise a boring food day.

Exercise corner I haven't done shit since Friday when I pounded my way through a 5 mile ruck. Did some free weights Saturday but nothing serious.
